Big books TAG

I got inspired by a norwegian blog Beathes Bokhylle.
And I wanted to join in, even though I was not tagget for it :P But whatever. This is my blog and I write what I will ;) haha

Beathe was challenged by Alexandra, a swedish book blogger from: Lexie leser.
But originally the challenge comes from the english blog: Big books TAG.

What you gotta do:
- Find the 5 thickest books on your shelf, that you have already read.
- And find the 2 thickest books in you TBR pile (that you have not yet read, but want to)

I found out in my search, that most of my thick books are around 350-400 pages long. But in this case I don`t feel it`s enough to get on my list :P Eventually I found 5 longer :P

The books I read:
-  Codys arv by Einar A. Lund     (a norwegian childrens book actually :) on 410 pages)
-  The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin     (464 pages)
-  Divergent by Veronica Roth     (487 pages)
-  The Host by Stephanie Meyer     (617 pages)
-  Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer     (768 pages)

The books I wanna read:
-  The Passage by Justin Cronin     (784 pages)
-  A discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness     (579 pages)

Have you read any of these?
And what do you think of thick books?

Me myself. I like thick books as long as they are interesting ;)
And the book is not to big to hold :P

Look forward to reading all of them.

My travelling plans for 2013

I always have dreams and plans.. But not everything come true.. If all the trips I wanted to came true.. I would be away all the time xD haha
But these are the travelling plans. I already decided on this year :)

Earlier this year I have already been on two Denmark trips.
- Copenhagen, 3 nights (with the DFDS boat Oslo- Copenhagen + 1 night at Clarion Collection Hotel Neptun )
- Odense, 4 nights (at Hotel Windsor)

The big trip is now in May, where I am finally going to USA. Going to visit BEA in New York. Which is so insanely cool.. New York is what you see in the TV, and little me are going there :P
- New York, 9 nights (at Bibi`s Garden Bed & Breakfast)

Bibi`s Garden Bed & Breakfast (borrowed from homepage)

Then only few days after coming home from there. I am planning a new trip. Which is not final yet. But as good as final. Since my boyfriend works as chef on boat, I think I will visit him.
So in June, I might take a trip to Spitsbergen again.
Hopefully I will have better luck this time. I where there for 3 nights, last year. But then something went wrong with the boat, so we were stuck in Longyearbyen, while they fixed the problem..
So I can`t wait to get on the "cruise" trips and see some more of Spitsbergen.
- Spitsbergen, 3-4 nights (with Polargirl)

Polargirl, Longyearbyen,Spitsbergen - May 2012

In June I might go for a walking trip here in my home country, Norway.
My plan is to walk from home and to our cabin. :) Which is about 25 km or so..
And I am not the most fit person. So thinking of bringing a tent and make it a sleep over in the woods :) If I will not do this trip in June, I will probably do it in August or September..

Our own, cabinn in the woods :p ,Norway - March, 2013

In July I am thinking of going 14 days to Denmark again, Odense.
And yes your thinking.. Why so offten.. Well I lived there for 10 years :P So I got my family and friends there ;)
But I will try to share with you some tips for if your ever going there ;)

Oslo, 17 april 2013

In September I will go to Oslo again. To attend the book festival. But still haven`t decided if I will stay there.. Maybe just take it as a 1 day trip, like I did last year. :)

I don`t really have other trips planned.. And as you can see I am kinda fully booked.. In August I will start my studies.. And therefor have less money to travel for..
But I will never stop dreaming of travelling :P

And I hope I will be able to share some of my trips + dreams with you guys in the future :D

Do you have any awsome travelling plans this year??

13 things in 2013

In the beginning of the year I got inspired by Nina, from Nina Reed.
And I made my own list of stuff I want to accomplish during this year :)
Though I am pretty late about posting it her on the blog. So there are som changes on the way.. Which you can read about in the different sections :) I made the main list in January, as a new year goal :D

SelmapåHytta

1. Walking / Camping vacation
I haven't been on a camping trip for ages and I miss it. I always wanted to be an outdoor person. A real nature geek. :p so this summer I want to play nature geek.
Talked to a friend about an upcoming trip.
We will walk all the way to our cabinn in the woods. Which is a walk up and down on more then 26 km. So we will bring a tent and sleep a night or two in the woods on our way :)
Will be the perfect trip for our dogs. Them will absolutly love, running around.
Then when we reach our old cabinn, which is in the middle of a wood, with no water or electricty. Just like in the old days :p
We will stay there a day or two. Just relaxing. Reading, fishing etc...
Totally chillen. :p

2. New York, BEA
This is in my head all the time. I am so excited about going to USA. It's just unbelivable I am going. Which I know I will. Coz flight ticket and "hotel" is already booked :) and BEA (Book Expo America) ticket is already bought. :D YaY
Can't believe it. I was going to travel alone, but now my best friend will join me. And I am so thankfull. It will make it much much better. We already planned a lot we need to see and do.
But more about that later on the blog ;)

3. Afrika again
One of my biggest thing this year was that I was going to South Africa again. And everything was planned. But unfortunatly lately I had to cancel :( makes me so so sad :(
The course I was going to attend got cancelled and I made a decision to stay home and rattet go another time, when I can afford to be there for a longer time. Since I was going to volunteer at Knysna Elephant Park. And I feel I need at least one month for that.
Though I am still dreaming and If I find out I can afford a little trip at one point I will not hesitate to go :p
I love Africa and I so miss being down there :(
And hopefully in a couple of years I have saved enough to volunteer at Knysna.
Coz working with elephants is my biggest dream ever :D

4. Start studying again Hopefully, It`s now it`s happening. I applyed for starting school again this summer.
I applyed for a study called Ecology and Natur ressaurces. Which is a bachelor degree, on 3 years.
Which sounds super interesting. I miss going to school and learn new things.
So hope to get into this :D
Specially since I already quite my job and stopped the contract of my appartment :P haha
My normal plans, since I was a kid, has always been to study Zoology/Biology on the University.
But I am missing one lesson to have what it takes + I can`t really afford to move to one of the big cities.
So therefor I chose the Ecology and Nature study. Sounds like they have some of the same things going on :P
Anyways.. Cross your fingers everyone.. I wanna go to school xD

tegning

5. Draw a drawing, and be happy about it
I loved drawing before and I miss it. Though normally I end up ditching the drawing, cause I am not happy about it. Last time I was really happy about a drawing, is the drawing above. I made it back in 2008. So that`s quite awhile ago :P
Or I actually drew one thing after the "princess drawing". My drawing of how I wanted my tattoo to look like. But that is pretty much it. And therefor I need to draw more. So I can practice and get better. Most of all cause I want one more tattoo. And I wanna design it myself :P

6. Make Scrapbook picture from my Africa trip
I own an insane amount of Scrapbooking stuff. And I never get to use it :(
So one of my goals are to make a collage/picture from my Africa trip. Which I can put in a frame and hang on the wall :D
Coz I have so much cool pictures, brochures, postcards etc. from the trip.
Just laying around waiting for me to get creative again.
So many good memories :D
What better way to show it off ;)

7. Pearl a picture
I am not sure pearl is the right english word. But you know the once you use as a kid to make pictures. By putting them on plates, forming pictures. No idee if you know what I am blabbering about. But I`ll continue anyways ;)
I have this set bought in a Hobby store. Where you print out a picture and then you make it out of pearls. Really cool. But still haven`t tried it and I got it back in 2011, as a christmas gift. So probably time to check it out :D

8. Adopt an Elephant
Last year I found this page were you can donate and help small orphan elephants.
And I love elephants. And wish I could help them all. Unfortunatly I can`t :(
But one of my goals this year is to adopt 1 or 2 elephants in that "park".
Since they do such a good job watching out for them :)
I got to know about it from a DVD I bought in Africa, called Elephant Diaries.

9. Learn how to shoot with bow and arrow
haha Yes...  This one was quite spontanius :P But I saw THE DRESS, the other day. Killer dress I need to own. And the model was standing with a bow and arrow.
And I thought at once. I wanna be here :P I need to learn how to shoot with it, coz that would be totally bad ass :P
So hopefully it`s possible to learn yourself.
First off I need to buy a set. Which is not cheap :/ by the way.. But I will do it.. When I can afford and have the time :P

10. Clean and sort out my boxes
OMG... I got so much stuff.. After several times of moving I have boxes I haven`t even unpacked. Some boxes even from I was a teenage girl, who couldn`t fit the things in my little room.
So now is the time to sort out everything and sell or giveaway the stuff I no longer need.
And hopefully digg out some old treasures, I have been missing :P

11. Bake cupcakes or macaraones
haha I am seriously not a kitchen person. And Halleluja for living with a cook :P It`s perfect.
But what most people doesn`t know, is I have always been dreaming about being the perfect housewife. Cleaning, cooking, gardening, sewing, reading, baking etc.. The whole packet.
So during 2013 I will dry baking.. And belive it or not.. But this goal I actually already completed :P
Coz I baked my first Macarones in February I think it was.. And they were OK.
Or some of theme.. Some of theme I just had to throw out. and nothing went as planned. But I did it ;) and hopefully practice makes me better. So probably try it later again. When I have up built my stamina for it :P hihi

12. Finish my stitching
When my sister got pregnant. I decided to start a embroidery, for my nephew. A picture of a baby and his name and birth date. Unfortunatly, now 2,5 years later. I still haven`t finished it :/
So I really wanna finish it. So I can get started om something new xD haha
I love stitching. It`s so relaxing. But unfortunatly I don`t really sit down and take my them when I should. Hopefully that will change ;)

13. Start jogging
My normal nr. 13 was to start taking my driving license. But in newer time I found out I will start that in 2014. Therefor I changed it. I will start jogging. I have a little dog who loves running. And I am not the training type of person. But I found a great schedule in a magazine. 16 weeks for training how to become a runner. You start out walking 6 min and jogging 1 min etc..
Sound like something I would be able to. So I will try it. For my dog :)
So I can start running with here one day and hopefully get a better health :)

------

I got so much I wanna do this year.. And now after 5 months gone already.. I can say.. That it`s just now possible to make it all.. So that`s why I made these 13 things. Which is still a realistic goal :)
And next year there will be new goals ;)

Do you have any big dreams/goals this year?
Have any of them come true yet?

Review: Anya`s Ghost

I just got this book recommended by a good friend of mine :) Therefor I just had to borrow it from her, right away. And I started reading it, once I got home. And finished it the morning after :P
This is a graphic novel on about 220 pages, written in english.
Published in 2011. This is the russian author Vera Brosgol`s debut book :)
She has also worked with illustrating some stuff for Nickelodeon etc..
This book was really easy read. Full of humour, even though it is a ghost story, you will laugh yourself through the story :P

In the story we meet the main character which is a russian girl, named Anya. She moved to America with her family. She is struggeling with fitting in to school and with all the general teenage troubles, in life. On top of it all, she meets a ghost, which connects with her. The ghost starts helping her with her daily life, with school, friends, boys etc. But what happens when Anya find out the truth about her ghost friend.

This is such a nice illustrated book, with an interesting story.
So I chose to give it 5 out of 6 stars

5

That`s because I really like the drawings and the story really got me reading on, and on..
Though the reason it didn`t get 6 stars is: When it finally got like "a spooky ghost story" it was kind og over before it even got to start. And that kind of dissapointed me :( Coz it was all building up to that moment and bang.. it was ending..
But I enjoyed it anyways :) Though the whole introduction was very long, compared to the middle and ending. Should have been more equal. :)
But all in all.. That`s just a little detaile :P
The book has a very good meaning to it. Be proud of who you are..

Review: the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

I must just say.. I am so so glad I listened to everyone, about this book.
Everyone has been praising it to the skyes.. And I will not end it ;) haha
I felt like the only person on blogworld who haden`t read this book. So
I did it.. I actually did it.. I went on and bought it and picked it up.. And am I greatfull.. Ohh yes..
I had hugh expectations for this book. I was so ready to get disapointed.
But luckily I wasen`t.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is the authors debut novel, whish was released in 2011.
Even though Michelle Hodkin has written a thick book, on about 450 pages, you are not bored.
She captured me in her writting, so even though it was a big book, I finished it in under a week.
I just had to read one more chapters. Which made it easy, since the chapters is such a nice size. Short. Not to long and not to short.. They were just perfect :P In my opinion.
I was not a big fan of main character, but I could still feel her frustration. When she could not figure out if things were real or not.
This book plays tricks with you. Coz sometimes she is dreaming and sometimes it`s real and not even the character knows whats going on.. So that`s what I liked about the book..
You were left thinking.. SAY WHAT..
And then the next moment you might be caught laughing out loud :P

Yup. You guessed it.. This book is getting on my favourite list.
And I have given it 6 out of 6 stars

I have already ordered book 2 ;) The Evolution of Mara Dyer. And I can`t wait to pick it up..
Hopefully it will arrive before my Easter break.. So I have something to read on the trip :P
I need more Noah.. I am totally in love with him.. Even though, yeah.. I have splits opinion on him.. Could talk about that forever xD haha
And I wanna see more to Jamie :P So hopefully there will be more of him in the sequel..
I loved that I nevere for saw what would come.. And hopefully the sequel is just as good :)

Have you read this book?  What did you think??

If your curious about it.. You should check out Alexa from Pages of Forbidden Love, she mad a videoblog review of the book. And she is one of the amazing bloggers who made me wanna read this book :)

New hair style

I was going to ask you guys which hair colour I should choose to get.
Since I wanted something who looked a bit more fresh :P
Than my usually greyish hair xD

I had several colours before: brown, mahogny, black, light :) I tried it ;)
And I like both dark and light.. So it was difficult to choose.
I kind of wanted orange hair.. Which I think is super awesome.. But at the same time, my face us just to red. To have orange hair next to it :( Buhuu..

So I thought practical.. My hair was already a bit light, coz of the lightening spray I have been trying out lately.. And I don`t wanna colour my hair.. Coz it grows out extremly fast.. So I whould have to colour it again in 3 weeks or so.. So I decided on staying like I am and put in some light stripes.. Just to give it some life :P
And summer is on it`s way anyway.. And that will make it even lighter ;)
Wuhuu.. for the sun.. So it would kind of be wast of money, making it dark, right before the summer is coming..
I am happy with the result..
And already dreaming of what my next hair colour should be xD

What do you think??

Which colour should I pick next :P And nope.. I am not doing green ;)
Do you think I would be able to pull of orange hair :)

Vacation

My vacationplans became a bit different then expected.
I was planning on sorting and cleaning my appartment and stuff.
But it all ended up in relaxing and TV watching :P
Which I do best xD

image201303030002

So far my 10 days vacation has been like this:
3 days where we visited my boyfriends family- :)
100%  relaxation infront of TV, with my boyfriend.
Before he had to leave for work again.. So 5 weeks.. then he will come home again.

Afterwards 4 days alone at home..
Where I have been walking in the woods. And an extreme amount of TV watching..
Gossip Girl 4 the Win.. haha I am at season 5 now.. Wuhuu..
Now I am so far in the season that there are all new episodes, I have never seen before..

Yesterday and today my cousine was visiting :D Where it again was a lot of Gossip Girl..
Food, snacks etc.. So nice :D

Do you have a favourite character in Gossip Girl?
I can`t really find one person that I liked through the whole story.
Though maybe Nate :)
Everyone else annoyse me haha

The 3 next days I will be going on a Cabinn trip with a friend. And both our dogs :)
Will be so relaxing in the woods.. No internet, no elictricity..
We will make a fire.. and play boardgames :P and read a book.. And the dogs can run around and play all day :)

So as you can see.. My plans did not go as planned.. But I am still loving my vacation.. And all the other stuff.. I can do later ;)

I just needed a break.. from everything.. and not think of everything..

Do you ever have periodes like that. Where you do "nothing"?
And what "do you do, when doing nothing"??

Review: Wolverine comic

I just finished this norwegian translation of a Wolverine comic.
Series: Wolverine #50-55 and Wolverine: Original annual #1.
It`s a comic on more then 180 pages, written by Jeph Loeb.
Illustrated by Simone Bianchi, Andrea Silvestri and Paul Monts.

Read: February 2013
Language: Norwegian
Source: Bought in grocery store myself :P
Format: Graphic novel / Comic

I really liked this graphic novel. There were loads of action and something happenning all the time.
Like seriously all the time, almost to much sometimes. It kind of ended up just making me frustrated coz I couldn`t follow all the time.
The drawing is kept in a dark coloured nuance.. Like the normal classic comics. Which is my first time, reading this type of comic.
I liked it, though I find it more messy.. But probably just need to get used to it :)
So I will just have to practice xD haha
I ended up giving it 4 out of 6 stars

It`s all about fighting.. Wolverine vs. Sabertooth.. And there isn`t really much more then that into it.
Though there is also a mystery thing in it. Though you don`t get the solution.. So you still want to read the next one ;)
But if you like fighting. Battle between good and evil.. Well this is the comic for you ;)
You will probably love it :D

What I also found funny was some of the known X-men characters having small parts in the story.. :)
So I will out of doubt check out more X-men comics.. Coz I love the movies :)

Can you recommend any??

TBR: February

It`s been very quite here lately.. Coz I have been working a lot.. and when I have had time to read, I have been focusing on norwegian books lately.. Since I mostly read english book the last couple of years..

But I am still reading English fantasy.. So there will be reviews one day in the future ;)

Right now I am reading:

Forged by Greed, I started reading way back in December. But the book is on my tablet, which I rarely use + someone borrowed it from me..But hopefully I will finish this awesome book in February :)
Coz so far I am liking it..

I am also reading:

Key of Amatahns. I started reading in January. And so far I read 100 pages and liking it. So hoping to finish it this month :)

I will not put up to many goals this month. Coz I have a lot of norwegian books to read during february.. Coz I was at the library again :P So I need to read those..
And if I have more time..

I will try to read:

Beautiful Creatures. I soon to see in the cinema.. And I need to check it out :)
Everyone is saying it`s such a good book.

I have to end:

City of Bones. I wish I could just finish this audiobook.. I have heard about 50%. But unfortunately I am not very good at listening to audiobooks. So I just need to end this one. And hopefully read it in paperform or try again another time.. Coz the story does not stuck in my head :(
And everyone is loving this one.. So I need to read read it :)
I hate ending books without finishing.. But this book I will probably try another time, when times are better :)

Have you read any of these books? What did you think??

What will you be reading in February?

But there is a reason for that.. Not the covers fault.. Coz I absolutly love this cover.. So so pretty :D

The real reason is. It was also my dads birthday.. And we had inviteted him and his girlfriend for dinner. And I had to work in the morning.. Which meant I had 2 hours before them coming.. To fix up the whole appartment + taking a shower.. And I barreli just made it..
Luckily for me I have worlds best boyfriend.. Which happens to be an amazing chef.. So he took care of all the kitchen stuff and food.. So I only had to make sure it looked presentable.. And I made it :P

Off to the meaning of this blogpost..
Drool people.. Over this amazing cover for Blurred. The sequel to Inbetween, written by Tara Fuller.

Cash is haunted by things. Hungry, hollow things. They only leave him alone when Anaya, Heaven’s beautiful reaper, is around. Cash has always been good with girls, but Anaya isn’t like the others. She’s dead. And with his deteriorating health, Cash might soon be as well.

Anaya never breaks the rules, but the night of the fire she recognized part of Cash’s soul—and doomed him to something worse than death. Cash’s soul now resides in an expired body, making him a shadow walker—a rare, coveted being that can walk between worlds. A being creatures of the underworld would do anything to get their hands on.

The lines between life and death are blurring, and Anaya and Cash find themselves falling helplessly over the edge. Trapped in a world where the living don’t belong, can Cash make it out alive?
