Teaser: A Witch in Winter

A Witch in Winter
by Ruth Warburton

"I hope you don´t mind." She set out six cups and a pot.
"I´ve invited some other friends. We ... consulted them, about the disturbances, before we knew what was going on, and I think they deserve to know the outcome. But they´re not due for a while, so in the meantime let´s have some cake and get to know each other."

Review: Switched by Amanda Hocking

Switched by Amanda Hocking

About the Book:
Switched is the first book in the Trylle trilogy written by Amanda Hocking. This book was first published in 2010, when the author self published it as ebook. And sold a lot of copies and still does.
The sequels are called Torn and Ascend. This is something different, a fantasy books without vampires, witches, werewolves etc. But instead there are trolls :)
She is also known for her series The Hollows, with demons.

ISBN13: 9781453688939
293 pages

Read: January 2012
Language: English

Summary: (From Goodreads)
When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy's not sure she wants to be a part of it.

The Story:
Wendy grows up with her big brother and her aunt. After her mother was put into mental hospital, after trying to kill her when she was 6 years old. 11 years later Wendy is starting to noticing she doesn´t always fit in as much as she would want to. But the day a mysterious boy called Finn, confront her with it, she woun´t belive him. If she is to thrust Finn, she has a another family out there, a family not like any other.
Is she suppose to thrust him and leave everything she knows, was her mother correct the whole time.
One day someone tries to kidnap her, but Finn comes to her rescue, and they need to dissapear for a while. Where will he take her and will she fit in.. And why would any one want to kidnap her..

My Opinion:
I really loved this book. It was something totally different. Trolls xD haha So awesome. Liked the new idea about them being trolls. Even though they looked like pretty people. :)
But all in all this story had me hooked from page 1. And things happened all the time.
And even though there where moments that was slower.. You just continued to read, because you fell in love with the characters. Yeap not character but characters :) I was not so fond of the main character. But there are several cute boys in this story :P And they totally won me over.
I couldn´t really make up my mind which boy I though she should hook up with. I hoped all of them xD But that wouldn´t be an opportunity xD haha
I gave this book 6 out of 6 stars

And I am super excited to get to read the sequels. Mainly because it´s well written and I wanna know what will happen etc.. But I really want to read more about these cute guys, and I need to know who she will end up with :P So yeap.. I already pre-ordered my copies of both the sequels :D YaY

Quote: The Replacement

In this meme I will share with you some of my favorite moments in the book. When I read it :)
Moments were I thought. This I have to write down so I can remember :)

"I know. Listen to me. When It´s been a choice between you and anything else, I´ve always picked you. I´m not sure I always made the right choices, but it doesn´t matter. I made them - me.
You didn´t do anything to me. I picked you and I am not sorry."

This is such a sweet comment in the book :) And I can really relate to it :D
Did you find any good places in this book who really got to you. Please feel free to share :)

Review: Entwined by Heather Dixon

Entwined by Heather Dixon

About the Book:
Entwined was a 2011 debut from Heather Dixon. Published in the beginning of 2011.
This is a stand alone story, not part of any series. The audiobook was told by Mandy Williams, who also tells The False Princess, which is one of my next audibooks :)

The story comes from an old folk tale by the Brothers Grimm, called The Twelve Dancing Princesses.

This audiobook was a really long audiobook, almost 12 hours long. And in paper form about 480 pages.

Listened to: December 2011- January 2012
Language: English

Summary: (from Goodreads)
Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it’s taken away. All of it.
The Keeper understands. He’s trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation. Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest. But there is a cost. The Keeper likes to keep things. Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.

My Opinion:
I guess this book was just not for me. Maybe I would have liked it more if I read it in paperform.
For me it was just to difficult to understand everything. Because there where so many people and so many special names.
The names were really cool. But for me 12 female characters to remember who was who, was just to much for me. And the same about the gentle men. I couldn´t remember who was who :(
And that really ruined the whole story for me. Decided to finish it hoping it would get better.
But if you don´t focus in the beginning your lost. Or I was.
I felt bad about that since I have seen great reviews of this book, on other blogs.
But it didn´t work for me and my memory :(
So I decided to give it 2 out of 6 stars

Because I liked the whole plot idea, it really had potential :) And sounded really fairytale like. And I love fairytales. And the cover was extremly pretty :) But in the end. Even though I wanted to love it. I had forgot everything before the story even ended :/

And for me it felt weird during the story. Because I felt like the girls where you teenage girls, playing around etc. Never felt they were becoming adults. And then the men you hear about. Sounded so old compared to them. :S So that was a bit weird for me aswell..
But I recommend you to check out more reviews of this one. And if you want to check it out. Maybe do it in paperform. So you can stop and think about stuff while reading it. Maybe take notes. To remember who is who. Not like me listen to it and then totally forget everything. :/

Review: The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

The Replacement
by Brenna Yovanoff

The Book:
The Replacement is written by the young author Brenna Yovanoff
This book was published back in 2010, but there was a lot of talk about it in blogs in the beginning og 2011 :) And she just published a new book in 2011 called The Space Between.
These are both individual books, not in a series :)

ISBN13: 9781595143372
343 pages

Read: December 2011
Language: English

Summary: (from Goodreads)
Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.

Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs

My Opinion:
I am a bit thorn. I liked the book, but still feel like it doesn´t deserve full pot.
Mainly because the written language didn´t capture me 100%. And I noticed myself reading really fast, probably not noticing everything, because I just wanted to get nearer the end.
Sounds like a good think but it´s not. The book didn´t make me concentrate and live as the characters, which a good book normally does.
But the book was good anyway. It had a good plot and you really wanted to know what was going to happen. Would they be able to save the little girl. And what´s up with Mackie the main character. And what kind of creatures are the once under the ground.

I will be giving this book 4,5 out of 6 stars :)

Because the story was interesting. And you wanted to continue reading, but at the same time, I didn´t enjoy it as much as I was hoping to.. Therefor the 4,5 out of 6 stars :)

Review: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins

The Book:
This is the first book of Suzanne Collins trilogy by the same name, The Hunger Games.
The first book was published back in 2008. But there was a big hype about this series last year in 2011, and that´s the reason I noticed it :)
The sequels are called Catching Fire (2009) and Mockinjay (2010).

While the film of this first book is going to be aired in cinemaes in March 2012 :D

ISBN13: 9780439023481
374 pages

Read: October 2011
Language: English

Summary: (from Goodreads)
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister Primrose, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before — and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The Story:
Katniss Everdeen lives in district 12 with her mother and little sister. District 12 is a poor community in a future time.Things are very different. They are not allowed to do different things, and must keep inside the fens of the saftey of the city. But since there are not much food in the city Katniss and her best friend Gale takes matters into own hands. They sneek into the forest and hunt for surviving.

But one day everything changes. When the yearly TV-show is collecting people for their show. A yearly show were one girl and one boy from every district, will have to fight for survival. 24 kids - only one will survive.

My Opinion:
OMG. This book was just amazing. I was a bit sceptical to begin with. Didn´t think this book was for me based on the story and the cover. I was like NAH.. Not really liking it. But since everyone was like WOW. AWESOME. I had to give in and read it. And just let me tell you. Didn´t take many pages before I was sold. xD I litterally couldn´t put the book down. I got up early to read before work, in breaks, after work and before sleeping :) This book was just awesome..
It was full og feelings and you were just so into the story. And that´s what I like about books, when they capture me and send me into them :P
Without of doubt 6 out of 6 stars for this one

I am so looking forward to the sequel. Since I heard the second book is even better. Which I can not get how can even be possible. This book is full of tensions, feelings, romance, love and action. The whole way through :)
