Review: Jenny Pox by J.L Bryan

Jenny Pox by J.L Bryan

Jenny Pox (The Paranormals, #1)

The Book:
I will start by saying. This book is not recommended for people under the age of 18.
So say the text on Goodreads, and I agree :)

Jenny Pox is the first book in the trilogy The Paranormals written by a man by the name J.L Bryan.
This book was published back in 2010. And I was lucky to get my hands on it for free on Amazon :)
The sequel called Tommy Nightmare, was published in april 2011.
While the last and third book Alexander Death was published in September 2011.

The author has also written other books. Among them is another trilogy called Songs of Magic.

ISBN13: 9781453728406

But life is never pink and harmony for Jenny. She still gets picked on. And schools most popular girl hates her. Jenny has to stay quite and hide her secret. But she is not the only one with a secret...

My Opinion:
Let me just start by saying WOW..
I didn´t have much thoughts about this one before starting. Other then I was a bit sceptical since I got it for free on Amazon. And I haven´t really seen a single review of it. Anywhere :S
Why I absolutly don´t get. Because this book was great.
Just let me say. I started out thinking this was a book for small teens. But make that nope. There a stuff in there not apropriate for kids :P
But the book was really great. The characters were both lovable and hateable :P haha
And I must admit at once I was like WTF is going on. Me not like. But that kind of made the book good aswell. Because it has it´s twists that you really didn´t see coming :P
So yeah. I would recommend this book. I felt like it was different in so many ways. And I was never bored. :)
So need to get my hands in the sequel. :)

You probably already guessed it, but I gave this book 5 out of 6 stars

One more thing I have to point out. Proabably not a good think. But when the sex stuff was brought up. I was like. Wow this is totally a dude writing. And then I went on an checked, and yeap. the author is a dude :P People will probably think it`s a bad thing. But I liked the way it was written. Different. Because it`s just right on.. :)

Review: Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

The Book:
This is a non spoiler review. But just so you know this is a sequel. And to get most out of this book you should check out the first book called Hex Hall. You can see link for my review, on the bottom of this review :)

Demonglass is the second book in the trilogy called Hex Hall written by Rachel Hawkins.
The first book was published in 2010. While this one came out a year later in 2011.
And the last book Spellbound has just been published in March 2012.

ISBN13: 9781423121312
359 pages

Read: October 2011
Language: Danish

Summary: (From Goodreads)
Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.

That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.

Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?

My Opinion:
I liked this book very much. Though there weren`t as much fun comments in this one, like in the first one. But this one was full og surprises and action :)
Seriously can`t wait to get my hands in book number 3. Anything can happen :O
If you want a fun quick read, this is the book for you ;)

I ended up giving this book a 5 out of 6 stars

Review: Birth of a Killer by Darren Shan

The Saga of Larten Crepsley: Birth of a Killer
  by Darren Shan

The Book:
The Saga of Larten Crepsley is a series written by the know other by the name Darren Shan.
Most people know him as the author behind the vampire series Cirque du Freak, also known as the Saga of Darren Shan, where one of the books actually been made into a movie aswell. The movie is called  Cirque du Freak - Vampire Assistent (2009).
I think the first book of the Cirque du Freak series came out in 2000. While this series is suppose to be a prequel story, compared to it. Since the story is taking place before Larten Crepsley becomes a part of the circus.
The first book about Larten Crepsley was published back in 2010.
There after came the sequels:  Ocean of Blood (2011), Palace of the Damned (2011) and Brothers to the Dead (2012). The 4th book soon to come, in May 2012 :)
In a total there are 4 books in this series and 12 books in Cirque du Freak.

This is a kids/teenager series, about vampires. Mostly suitable for young boys in the age of 11-15 years old. But if you ask me girls will probably like it too :)

ISBN13: 9788202358853
212 pages

Thanks to the norwegian publish office Cappelen Damm for giving me a copy of this for reviewing :)

Read: March 2012
Language: Norwegian

Summary: (From Goodreads)

Before Cirque Du Freak...
Before the war with the vampaneze...
Before he was a vampire.

Larten Crepsley was a boy.

As a child laborer many centuries ago, Larten Crepsley did his job well and without complaint, until the day the foreman killed his brother as an example to the other children.

In that moment, young Larten flies into a rage that the foreman wouldn't survive. Forced on the run, he sleeps in crypts and eats cobwebs to get by. And when a vampire named Seba offers him protection and training as a vampire's assistant, Larten takes it.

This is his story

The Story:
During the book we follow the main character Larten Crepsley on his way in life. He starts out being this young sweet guy, living with his poor family. He doesn´t experience a lot of fun, since he have to work all day long. Even though he is just about 13 years old, I think it was.
One day at work he looses his temper and do something chaotic, to save the once he love.
That´s the reason he got to escape and run away. He is no longer wanted.
On his escape he meets Seba Nile (he is called in Norwegian) and old vampire, which to he becomes the assistent.
After this meeting. His life takes a whole other twist and other challenges and big choices are on it´s way in his life.

My Opinion:
I liked this book. Even though I am not really the age group it was meant for :)
First off all. I wanna give this book 4 out of 6 stars. Which is a big number 4 :)

I chose to give this book 4 out of 6 stars.
It´s a really great book for both young boys and girls. Which is great about it. Many books are only suitable for girls. But this one is good for both :)
The reason it only got 4 out of 6 stars is it was a bit slow. And not much really happened. And there was no mystery big thing during the story.
You just kind of followed his life story. But that was also okay.
And this book was well written and easy read and therefor suitable for young readers.
Though there are some violence and blood etc. it is vampires and in old times. But I don´t think that matters that much. Probably best fitted for young boys in the age 10-15 years.
Girls might also like it. Though there are not really any female characters in this book.
I will read the continuing book. Since all the mystery off this book was in the last sentence on the last page xD who is the mystery guy :O I need to find out...

I must confessed I haven´t read any of the other books, written by Darren Shan. But I have been thinking of it, since I watched the movie. The movie really surprised me, in a good way :)
So now I am just curious to read the sequel. And maybe pick up the other series by him aswell :)

But more drama is also arriving the summer camp, with more mystery murders. etc. Which she gets caught up in the middle off.

My Opinion:
I love this series.. Mostly for the way it is written and for the guys in it :P I totally <3 them. But most of all the cute Lucas :D
For me that was what I was looking forward to in this book. And it felt like all to long before he came back. But eventually he came back. And I was happy dancing. And then poff the story was over :/
Why do I have to wait so long for the next one :(
Heads on over to pre-order right now.

Anyway.. Back to the basics. I love this story. Because it´s simple and full of mystery. On a not creepy way. And there are all these supernatual folks living together. Learning eachothers way of living :)

There are always questions in the air. And you just have to continue to read. :)
So so looking forward to the 3rd book :D

Review: Blood Feud by Alyxandra Harvey

Blood Feud by Alyxandra Harvey
The Book:
Blood Feud is the second book in the Drake Chronicles written by Alyxandra Harvey.
This book was published back in 2010. The other books in the series is called My love lies bleeding (2009), Out for Blood (2010), Bleeding Hearts (2011). While the 5th book is being expected in june 2012. :) And is going to be called Blood Moon,
Alyxandra Harvey also just published a new book with fairies in it. Called Stolen Away (2011).

ISBN13: 9781408807057
258 pages

Read: February 2012
Language: English

Summary: (From Goodreads)
The action and romance continue as the Drakes face a new vampire with a 200-year-old grudge.

It´s been centuries since Isabeau St. Croix barely survived the French Revolution. Now she´s made her way back to the living and she must face the ultimate test by confronting the evil British lord who left her for dead the day she turned into a vampire. That´s if she can control her affection for Logan Drake, a vampire whose bite is as sweet as the revenge she seeks.
The clans are gathering for Helena´s royal coronation as the next vampire queen, and new alliances are beginning to form now that the old rifts of Lady Natasha`s reign have started to heal. But with a new common enemy, Leander Montmarte - a vicious leader who hopes to force Solange to marry him and usurp the power of the throne for himself - the clans must stand together to preserve the peace the threatens to destroy.
This second adventure in the Drake Chroincles - told from both Logan´s and Isabeau´s perspectives  - has all the same butt-kicking action, heart pounding romances and snarky humor that readers loved in Hearts at Stake, as well as exciting new revelations about vampire dynasties to keep readers coming back for more.

The Story:
In this book you follow mostly Solange´s bigger brother Logan. And a girl he falls in love with. She is a vampire called Isabeau and is over 200 years old.
You follow how they get to know each other. At the same time you hear a bit about all the drama around the Drake family, after they became royals.
But most of all you get to know who Isabeau is and what happen to her in the future.

My Opinion:
This is the second book in Drake chronicle. And I must confess, compared to the first book, I was not fond of this one. I liked the Logan part when you met him and his brothers. But mostly this book was about Isabeau. Which was a character I didn´t really connected with. Specially the part where she looked back. I kind of fast read them because they bored me.

Love Alyxandra´s writting. She has a great way of writting. I just didn´t connect with the characters in this book. :( But I am still looking forward to the next book :) I can´t wait to read it. And hear more from the hot brothers :P

Therefor I decided to give this book 4 out of 6 stars

Review: Legend by Marie Lu

Legend by Marie Lu

The Book:
Legend is a young adult dystopian book, written by the young author Marie Lu. It´s also her debut book and was published in the ending of 2011.
The sequel is going to be called Patriot and is being expected in September 2012.

I listen to it on audiobook, where it was told by Mariel Stern and Steven Kaplan.
And the audiobook is a bit less then 8 hours long.

ISBN13: 9780399256752
In hardback the book has about 305 pages.

Listen to: February 2012
Language: English

Summary: (From Goodreads)
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias' death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills

My Opinion:
I really enjoyed this book. It was actually my first english audiobook I enjoyed.
The woman telling had a nice voice. And this was an audiobook where I didn´t loose interest :) YaY
It´s a dystiopia novel who reminds me about InTime and Matched :) in a way :)

Not much to say. Other then this was a great entertainment. And I am looking forward to hear the sequel.

I therefor chose to give this book 5 out of 6 stars

Because it´s very entertaining, short and simple. :) And the voices are speaking clearly. Though I was not much fan of the male voice, I still didn´t loose my interest :P
