Review: Die for me by Amy Plum

Die for Me by Amy Plum

KoblingThe Book:
This is the first book in the Revenants series by Amy Plum. The second book Until I Die, is expected released in 2012.
This is a modern zombie/immortal story. For teens/young adults.

Read: July 2011
Language: English

Summary: (from Goodreads)
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.

The Story:
Two young girls travel to live with their grandparents in Paris, since theire parents past away in a car accident.
The two sisters are very different, one love partying etc. The other one keeps to her self.
We follow the youngest sister Kate, who enjoys being alone, reading etc.
But her quiet life turns up side down, when she meets a mystery boy, Vincent.
Vincent is not any kind of a boy, his a Revenant.

My Opinion:
I absolutely adored this book. One of my favorites this year. It had my breathtaking from the beginning till the end :) And when I finished it, I just wanted to start reading it all over again. Which I have never done before. So think my next audiobook, will be Die for me :D
So as you probably already guessed, I rated this book 6 out of 6 stars.

Teaser: Narnia: The Magican´s Nephew

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading and it asks us to...

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share a couple of “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.

The Magican´s Nephew by C.S Lewis

But this time there was something that had kept them as wide-awake as possible: for as soon as they had got out on the grass, they found that they were not alone.

I am on page 48 so far. Read the beginning once before, many many years ago. But still like it :) Looking forward to see what will happen :) Since I have only read the beginning before.

Though I am a huge Narnia fan :D So I will probably love it :D

Review: Woodland Fantasy by Becca Dale

Woodland Fantasy by Becca Dale

About the Book:
This is an Ebook on only about 13 pages. Which I got for free on All Romance Ebooks.
An adult book, with sex involved. Not for people under 18 years.

Read: June 2011
Language: English

Summary: (From Goodreads)
Trapped in an abusive marriage, a woman escapes into the woods to find peace and happens upon her erotic salvation in the guise of a handsome forest dweller.

My opinion:
I have to admit this was not a book for me. So I only gave it 1 out of 6 stars.

I didn´t feel like there were a real story in the book. No real beginning, prestory, real middel or ending. . Okay that sounded evil, but it´s not like that. It just lacked a bit of "keep on reading entusiasme."
It´s about a person who left her house and cheated on her husband, and then went back home again. 13 pages, done into 1 sentence :)

The think who really confused me, was the point that it was suppose to be a paranormal related book, or so I thought. But I didn´t really feel like there were anything paranormal in it.
Other then the man says something about being a fairy king.
Which in my opinion came a little bit out of the air, and didn´t do anything to the story. Since that was it. It could just have been dropped.

But again how much can you let yourself think about 13 pages. I could imagine it´s incainly difficult to get everything into such few pages.

So my conclusion is, I am probably not a short story fan. Since I normally get disappointed.
But hoping to find a short story I will like one day :P hehe

Have you read this one? And what do you think of short stories? You like them???
Any suggestion of what I should read, to get over my fear for short stories.?

Curious: Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts by Alyxandra Harvey

The Drakes and friends will be tested when an infestation of deadly vampires threatens Violet Hill.

Lucy's cousin Christabel has come to live in Violet Hill, and adjusting to the difference between life in a small mountain town and her home in the city is difficult enough. The strict curfew that Lucy's parents enforce is the worst part. Something really dangerous couldn't possibly happen in this tiny town. But Christabel has noticed some mysterious happenings, and it seems like Lucy, her boyfriend Nicholas and his brother Connor are all in on a secret that Christabel doesn't understand—one that seems deadly serious. Although she won't admit it, Christabel would love to be in on any secret with Connor Drake. But when she is kidnapped by the ruthless Hel-Blar vampires, Christabel must cause more and more trouble in Violet Hill, Lucy and Connor finally fill Christabel in on all the undead drama. Together, they must find a way to stamp out the Hel-Blar for good

What can I say.. Look at that cover it is so beautiful. This is the 4 book in the Drakes Chronicle. And it´s being released October 2011.
I have only read the first book, but fell in love with it from the first page.
And without a doubt going to buy the rest of the series. Or make that the whole series, since I borrowed the first book from a friend :P

My review of the first book will come soon :)

Have you read any of the books in this series?
Omg, I totally have a book crush on Nicholas <3 xD haha

My Love Lies Bleeding by Alyxandra Harvey

I looked around curiously. There was an iPod dock and stacks of music magazines and clothes in a pile in the corner. There was a small photograph on his nightstand, It was of the two of us on my fifteenth birthday. I was laughing, the light glinting off my glasses and the sequins on my scarf, and Nicholas was turned toward me, with serious eyes (...)

Update: Audiobooks

What do you guys think about audiobooks? Does it count as reading a book?

I have never liked audiobooks before. Because I can´t focus on things when I only hear them. But I decided to give it one more try. :)
So I have started to listen to them. When I am 100% relaxed and can focus.
And now I just started my second audiobook. Which I listen to when I am out walking. Kind of smart reading and training at once :P

Even though I still think it´s difficult to focus to only listen. I am going to give it more tries :) And hopefully enjoy it. If I can find some good once. :)

Got anyone to suggest?? :P Since the most important thing is for the reader to have a comfortable voice.

So what do you think? Do you enjoy audiobooks? or don´t you like them?
Do you listen to them or not? And why??? :)

Review: Mercy by Rebecca Lim

Mercy av Rebecca Lim

Fra Goodreads:
An electric combination of angels, mystery and romance, MERCY is the first book in a major new paranormal series.

There's something very wrong with me. I can't remember who I am or how old I am, or even how I got here. All I know is that when I wake up, I could be any one. It is always this way. There's nothing I can keep with me that will stay. It's made me adaptable. I must always re-establish ties. I must tread carefully or give myself away. I must survive.

Mercy doesn't realise it yet, but as she journeys into the darkest places of the human soul, she discovers that she is one of the celestial host exiled with fallen angel, Lucifer. Now she must atone for taking his side. To find her own way back to heaven, Mercy must help a series of humans in crisis and keep the unwary from getting caught up in the games that angels play. Ultimately she must choose between her immortal companion, Lucifer, and a human boy who risks everything for her love.

My Opinion:

I started this book, when I got it from Netgalley, Unfortunatly I have never finished it. It sounds really interersting. But obviously it wasen´t my time right now to read it. Because in the middle of this book I started forgetting what I just read. And then I just fell out of the story. I couldn´t put myself into the story.
Therefor this is now my first unfinished book ever. Who I just had to quit on, I have never done that before. And probably I will pick it up some other time. Since I am not a quitter :P Just bad timing I think.

Noneethless I didn´t like this book. But probably bad timing. Since I read a lot of great things about it. I got to page 193 out of 288 pages.
When I agreed with myself to quit. Since I wanna use my energy on a bunch of other books.

But even though this book wasn´t for me. It could be for you. So head on over at goodreads. By clicking the picture. To see what other people thing. Mine opinion is just one among others.

Have you read this book? And what did you think?
Or are you going to give it a chance? :)

This is the first book of Shadow Falls series. Written by C.C Hunter.
The series will be of 4 books in all. A trilogy and a prequel.

416 pages
ISBN13: 9780312624675

Read: July 2011
Language: Danish

Summary: (From Goodreads)
Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

The Story:
This book is about a young girl named Kylie. She is going through some hard time. Breaking up with her boyfriend, her parents getting divorced and growing apart from her best friend.
And suddenly on top of everything she is being sent away for a summer camp.
Which turns out not to be an ordinary camp.
She learns so much and meet so many people. She didn´t even know existed before now. And suddenly she is one of them. But who are she? Will she find out the inner truth about herself.

My Opinion:
OMG. I loved this book. I was hooked from page 1. :)
This was something different. Which made me blow away. Or none less new to me. Never read about a summer camp full of paranormal creatures.
The story also have the classic triangle love story. Which I most of the time loves. In this book it was so good. I got frustrated sometimes xD
And not to mention the hot werewolf. Which should be a must in every story :P haha
What more can I say. It was interesting following Kylie on her trip to find out the real truth about herself. etc.
So I give this book 6 out of 6 stars.
And just waiting impatiently for the next book :)

In my mailbox: From Denmark

In my mailbox is a weekly meme by The Story Siren. Here you tell what kind of books you got lately. Recieved, Bought, Borrowed etc. They all count ;)

Last time I was in Denmark I bought a bunch of books. Who my bestfriend borrow from me. That´s why there is no videologg this month. Because all these books are on vacation in Denmark. Almost all of them, anyways :P

I bought:

Shadow Falls 1, Born at Midnight by C.C Hunter

The Books of Beginning 1, The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens

The Magicians Apprentice 1, 2 and 3 by Trudy Canavan

Hex Hall series book 1 and 2

All these books I got for about 65 euro in all, which is really cheap in Denmark :)
And since I had been looking at them for a long time, I just had to buy them :P
My best friend got something to read and I will get them when she finished them :)

I have already read C.C.Hunters Born at Midnight.
Which I absolutely loved. :D

Have you read any of these?? What did you think? Or are you planning to?
