Right now I am reading a book called Elephant Talk by Ann Downer, which I got from Netgalley. But I will only be reviewing it on my norwegian bookblog. Since it`s not Fantasy related.

Review: Rebel by R.J Anderson

Rebel by R.J Anderson

About the book:
This is the second book in the Faery Rebel trilogy.
The first book was called Spell Hunter or Knife. The third book is called Arrow.
You can also find the second book under the name Wayfarer.

ISBN13: 9780857351357

295 pages

Read: February 2011
Language: English

From Goodreads:
The faeries of the Oak are dying, and it’s up to a lone faery named Linden to find a way to restore their magic. Linden travels bravely into dangerous new territory, where she enlists the help of an unlikely friend—a human named Timothy. Soon they discover something much worse than the Oakenfolk’s loss of magic: a potent evil that threatens the fate of all faeries. In a fevered, desperate chase across the country, Timothy and Linden risk their lives to seek an ancient power before it’s too late to save everyone they love.
R. J. Anderson has artfully crafted a world of stunning magic, thrilling adventure, and delicate beauty, where a girl far from home must defeat the pervasive evil befalling her beloved faery realm

The Story:
The second book is all about Linden. A 15 year old young fairy, who grew up in a faery community in the big Oak, in Paul´s garden.

But to read this book, you have to have read the first book, to get the whole story. Since this story continues on the hunt for more answers. The fairies seeks the truth about what happened to them and their community, many years ago, when they lost their magic. How can they get the magic back?
But time is running out, when the Queen is dying. The big world is full of challenges, both small and big.. Can they manage..

My Opinion and My Conclusion:
I liked this book. Actually even more then the first book. Since there was more happening and much more action etc. So I chose to give this book 5 out of 6 stars.

But as I sad this is a series, where you have to have read the first book first. I don´t think it would be any good standing alone. So if you haven´t read Knife, you should check it out. You can also check out my review for it.
I am a little behind with my reading, but I am looking forward to the last book. And to see how everything is ending :)

Review: Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

About the book:
This is the first book in a trilogy written by an 18 year old writer called Alexandra Adornetto.
Book two will be published in August 2011 and will be named Hades.
While book tree will be published sometime in 2012 and be named Heaven.

ISBN13: 9780312656263

496 pages

Read: February 2011
Language: English

From Goodreads:

Three angels- Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human- are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They must work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.

Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.

The angel’s mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatenin
g. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?

The Story:
It´s about 3 angels who arrives to earth to create peace. The main character is a young angel called Beth. It´s her first time on earth, which makes her less used to the things, compared to her siblings. Since they have been to earth before and learned how to act and keep themselves out of trouble etc.

But when she starts going to high school, she gets curious and start acting human. Maybe a little to much some times. She gets to live a daily human life, with friends, boys, partying, boyfriend etc. But who to live a human life, when you are having such a hugh secret. Can she keep the secret to her self or will she be reviled...

My Opinion:
I must confess that this book didn´t quite cover my expectations. I was just so trilled to read this book at once, when I got it. But.. It was a great entertainment, but I have to confess, that´s it. It didn´t give me much more then that. :(

I found it difficult to live myself into the book.
First of all maybe because the main character was an angel falling in love with an ordinary guy. Which normally uses to be the other way around. This made it difficult for me to get into the main character. But don´t know if that´s the real reason that it just didn´t work for me.. Since I read a lot of fantasy, and always I am in another world. So it can´t be the reason.

I also like the fact that it is different from other books. But still.. yeah.. others will probably love it. The book was just not for me. It´s missing a little extra special little thing :P

My Conclusion:
Therefor I decided to give it an average 3 out of 6 stars. Since I don´t regret reading it. It was okay entertainment. And the cover is just awesome. So that gives it an exstra puff..

Even though I wasn´t that fond of it. I guess I will be reading the next books in the trilogy. To find out if it gets more exciting etc. I am curious on what she wants to establish in the next books, since not much happened in the first one. I want to see if the next one got more into it. Now that we are familiar with the characters and the basics.
And I figure since she choose to write a trilogy, she must have some more ideas hidden up there, just waiting on to be reviled. Guess we have to wait and figure it out ;)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading and it asks us to...

  • Open to a random page
  • Share a couple of “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.

And then just like that we´re at the fence. Alex springs into the air, and for a second he pauses there. I want to scream Stop! Stop! I picture the crack and sizzle as his body connects with fifty thousand volts of electricity, but then he lands on the fence and the fence sways silently: dead and cold, just like he said.

This is the book I am reading now. And I am very excited about it. Since I have heard so much good about it :)

Review: Stray by Rachel Vincent

Stray by Rachel Vincent

About the book: This is the first book of a series calles Shifters written by Rachel Vincent. With 6 books so fare.
The other books are caller: Rogue, Pride, Prey, Shift and Alpha. The first book was published in 2007 and the last one in 2010.

(ISBN13: 9780778324218)
About 400 pages long.

Read: March 2011
Language: Norwegian

From Goodreads:
There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .
And I'm one of them.

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .

The Story:
We follow the main character a strong independent young woman. Who just want to live a normal life. But that´s easier said then done, since shes a shapeshifter. And can turn herself into a huge cat animal, called werecat.
But one day young women, young werecat ladies are getting kidnapped. And she is being forced home by her family to get protection.
Just one problem. She don´t want to be protected, she wants to be herself etc.

But what will happen when things really get serious.

My Opinion and My Conclusion:
Awesome book. For adult or the older young adult girls :P
I was totally hooked by the first page and on. And there were always something happening and it was super exciting. I both laughter, shivered and cried to this book. I was so sucked into it that I had to stop sometimes, because I thought omg how am I surviving this or what do I do next xD
Just one tiny detail. Its not me xD haha But that great was the book..I was convinced that it was myself :P
So yeah this book will get an 6 out of 6 stars. There could probably been some more of something. But I don´t know what. But it deserves 6 stars since I was so much living the character :P

And I just have to add.. OMG Jace sounded so totally cute.. And I am so looking forward to read the next book :)
