Review: Torment by Lauren Kate

Torment

About the book: This book is written by Lauren Kate.
It´s the second book in a trilogy, where you have to read the first one first. To be able to understand what it is all about.
Check out my review on the first book Fallen.

(ISBN13: 9780385739146)
452 pages

Read: English - November 2010

From Goodreads:
Hell on earth. That's what it's like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel. It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts - immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students -Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn't told her everything. He's hiding something - something dangerous. What if Daniel's version of the past isn't actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else? The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.

The Story: Luce starts in a new school called Shoreline. This is an exclusive school, very different from Sword & Cross. Here she has to start all over again by getting new friends while trying to get her relationship to work.
Daniel is out hunting for Outcasts, so they wont get her. And Cam keeps on showing up.
Luce tries to figure out more about what the shadows are and what they are doing.

My Opinion: This is a great book. More triangle love affairs, in a teenage kind of way :P
There are a lot of issues known from the real world. Love problems, moving away from family and friends, starting over getting new friends etc.
But compared to the first one this one got more action in it. And there are much more happening.
I love the way the books are written, very easy to read :)
And I am just eager to read the next one. Think it´s up for release Summer 2011.
Very much looking forward to that :)

Have you read this book. What did you think about it.?
If you got a blog and already have reviewed it, feel free to link to your review. So we can get more peoples opinions :)

My Conclusion: I will give this one 5 out of 6 stars :) Because it´s a great book, easy to read. And you can´t really put it down when you have started to read it. I also think it´s a little better then the first book :)
These books are really worth checking out ;)

On my Wishlist

They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click HERE.

Here is my weeks wishlist :)

Dead witch walking by Kim Harrison
I have seen this book on a Norwegian site and thought it looked really cool :)
Seems like it got a little bit of everything :P

Goodreads summary:

The underground population of witches, vampires, werewolves—creatures of dreams and nightmares—has lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But after a genetically engineered virus wipes out a large part of humanity, many of the "Inderlanders" reveal themselves, changing everything.

Rachel Morgan, witch and bounty hunter with the Inderland Runner Services, is one of the best at apprehending supernatural lawbreakers throughout Cincinnati, but when it comes to following the rules, she falls desperately short. Determined to buck the system, she quits and takes off on the run with an I.S. contract on her head and is reluctantly forced to team up with Ivy, Inderland's best runner . . . and a living vampire. But this witch is way out of her league, and to clear her name, Rachel must evade shape-changing assassins, outwit a powerful businessman/crime lord, and survive a vicious underground fight-to-the-death . . . not to mention her own roommate.

Evermore by Alyson Noel

This series I have just heard so much good about :) And I think it´s the next thing on my buying list :P

Goodreads summary:

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste…

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is. Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

Matched by Ally Condie

This one I have read about on so many blogs. And It sounds pretty awesome. And special :)

Goodreads summary:

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Sorry if the list was put together a bit to quick :) But I am on a train on my way "home" I am between places right now. Moving from Denmark to Norway. And needing to take care of my work to. And I became an aunt 2 days ago :) So there is so much right now. And that is also why I haven´t been posting so much and probably will not to it before the new year has arrived :) But I will ofcourse do my best ;)

What do you think about my list and have you read any of them? What do you think.?

Whats on your wishlist this week :)

I have discovered a lot of new books this week. Which I re
ally want to but when I get the money to do it :) But here is a list of 5 different kinds of books I discovered :)

Forgive my fins by Tera Lynn Childs
I think this one sounds interesting, since I haven´t read anything with mermaids before :)

Goodreads summary: Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it’s not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but when you’re half human, half mermaid like Lily, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.

Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it h
as that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.

When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily-ever-after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

Rampant by Diana Peterfreund
This one sounds interesting. I wanted to find something about Unicorns, because I have never read anything with these creatures. And whats better then Killer Unicorns xD

Goodreads summary: Forget everything you ever knew about unicorns...

Real unicorns are venomous, man-eating monsters with huge fangs and razor-sharp horns. Fortunately, they've been extinct for a hundred and fifty years.

Or not.

Astrid had always scoffed at her eccentric mother's stories about killer unicorns. But when one of the monsters attacks her boyfriend—thereby ruining any chance of him taking her to the prom—Astrid finds herself headed to Rome to train as a unicorn hunter at the ancient cloisters the hunters have used for centuries.

However, at the cloisters all is not what it seems. Outside, the unicorns wait to attack. And within, Astrid faces other, unexpected threats: from the crumbling, bone-covered walls that vibrate with a terrible power to the hidden agendas of her fellow hunters to—perhaps most dangerously of all—her growing attraction to a handsome art student ... an attraction that could jeopardize everything.

Tithe av Holly Black
I was looking for some books with fairies end fell over this series :) Which I think sounds very interesting.. :) And I really like the cover to :P

Goodreads summary:
A gripping tale of a teenage girl finding out how different she is - and how she must use her ingenuity to survive, and save her friends. A teenage girl goes back to her childhood home - the place where she used to talk to faeries. Coming up to Hallowe'en, she meets her old friends - and Roibin, who tells her his true name. Discovering the truth abou
t herself, she agrees to go along with a plan to disrupt the human sacrifice that binds her faery friends to unkind masters. But she is to be the human sacrifice, and not everyone has been telling her the truth...

Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
I just love Vampires and got to read this series to :)

Goodreads summary:
When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, it carried on board the men and women who would shape America: Miles Standish; John Alden; Constance Hopkins. But some among the Pilgrims were not pure of heart; they were not escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires. The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated blue bloods of American society.

The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. And they kept that secret for centuries. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out. Schuyler Van Alen is a sophomore at a prestigious private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes instead of the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates, and she lives with her reclusive grandmother in a dilapated mansion. Schuyler is a loner...and happy that way. Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food and she is having flashbacks to ancient times. Then a popular girl from her school is found dead... drained of all her blood. Schuyler doesn't know what to think, but she wants to find out the secrets the Blue Bloods are keeping. But is she herself in danger?

Could those vampire legends really be true? Steeped in vampire lore and set against the glittery backdrop of New York
City, Blue Bloods will be devoured by Melissa de la Cruz's legion fans.

Wicked by Nancy Holder
Last but not least I want to read something with some witches :) And this one sounds pretty cool :)

Goodreads summary:
Holly Cathers's world shatters when her parents are killed in a terrible accident. Wrenched from her home in San Francisco, she is sent to Seattle to live with her relatives, Aunt Marie-Claire and her twin cousins, Amanda and Nicole.

In her new home, Holly's sorrow and grief soon give way to bewilderment at the strange incidents going on around her. Such as how any wish she whispers to her cat seems to come true. Or the way a friend is injured after a freak attack from a vicious falcon. And there's the undeniable, magnetic attraction to a boy Holly barely knows.

Holly, Amanda, and Nicole are about to be launced into a dark legacy of witches, secrets, and alliances, where ancient magics yield dangerous results. The girls will assume their roles in an intergenerational feud beyond their wildest imaginations...and in doing so, will attempt to fulfill their shared destiny.

Have you read any of this.? Or got any other comments to them :) Please feel free :)
How is your wish list looking this week ..? :)

Review: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Fallen

About the book: This book is written by Lauren Kate.
And is the first book in a trilogy. I think.

(ISBN13: 9780385738934)
452 pages.

Read: English - October 2010

From Goodreads:
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her

The story: It´s about Lucinda Price, called Luce. She sees shadows, which often brings something bad with them. She starts on a new school called Sword & Cross, with were special classmates. But she can´t tell about her secret.
But at school there is this amazing, mystical guy called Daniel. Which she is drawn to all the time. And at the same time there is this nice guy called Cam, who will do everything to here.
But there are also secrets behind the walls of the school. What will happen and which guy will she choose.

My opinion: I think it´s a really good book. Though kind of boring in the start. I almost quit it. But because I loved the cover I promised myself I had to read it all the way, and I don´t regret. It´s a fantastic book. And the Author writes with mystery. There are always somethings who are not reviled, so you want to continue reading it, to find out. This is a very good thing. Because when I finished it I hurried down to the shop the next day, just to buy the second book. And now I can´t wait for the third one to come :P

But I have also discovered that this book is either loved or hated. So I will suggest people who read it, to finish it. Before they make any conclusions about it :) And to all out there. You should read it, and find out if you like it :) Good luck ;)

Have you already read it, then please make a comment with your opinion and fx. a link for your blog/homepage :)

My conclusion:
I give it about 4.5 out of 6 stars :) Because it´s a great book for young adults. But the boring starts makes it fall down to a 4.5 :)

Curious: Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Wings by Aprilynne Pike

I just discovered this series on other blogs, a while ago. And thought that I just have to read this one :) So I ordered both right away. And I am really looking forward to get them in my mailbox :) So I can get started with them

I ordered book 1 and 2 in the series, but there are suppose to be 4 in all :)
You can read about the books and about what the media thinks about the books.
On the Aprilynne Pikes own homepage.

From Goodreads: (about the first book)

Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.

Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.

In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

Have you read these books.? And what did you think about them.? Are they any good :)

Update: Reading goals for 2011

Almost everyone is preparing for the new year we are heading to.
Making goals about what we want to read for the whole next year.
I myself have also made some goals :) And entered for som challenges :)

My goals:
1. Read all the Twilight books again.
2. Read all the Harry Potter books again.
3. Read the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Probably the Hobbit to.
4. Read the Dark Material trilogy again.

Challenges:
I have entered 2 challenges for the next year.
Off The Shelf!
In this one my goal is to read 50 of my books. Though not all of them will be in English. So some of them will only be reviewed in my Norwegian Bookblogg.

In this one I have to read 24 fantasy books. And they will all be reviewed on this blogg :)

You can follow me achievements here :)

Have you entered any challenges or made up some goals.? And which.?

Update: New Fantasy blog

I started blogging about a month ago.
Where I decided to make a bookblog, where I could tell about all the books I own.
And the big question were. To blog in Norwegian or English.
My conclusion was to do it in Norwegian, because many of my books are Norwegian or Danish. And I wanted to be able to write about all of them.

But now I kind of regrets. Because I have discovered an amazing fantasy blog world out there.
There are so many others who have the same passion as me in reading fantasy books. And mostly of them are in English. There for I have made myself this second blog.
Here I will write about Fantasy books. The once I read, the wants I have got and the wants I want to read etc. :)

Hope you guys understand my English. It is not perfect. But I really want to practice my English and this is the perfect way for me to do that :)
